VP Director of Internal Audit

Job PurposeThis position is responsible for the overall administration of Peoples' internal audit program with direct responsibility for managing the relationship between Peoples and our internal auditors.
This is a critical leadership position at Peoples, as the associate will be responsible for working with the Board of Directors Audit Committee chair to set the agenda, collect and distribute the information and serve as principal contact point for the this committee.
In addition, the associate will work closely with the Finance, Accounting and Reporting (FAR) Department and Peoples' external auditors to ensure appropriate communication between all parties.
Job Duties Will be responsible for the overall administration of the internal audit program.
Will act as key point of contact for Internal Auditors.
Will review and approve all aspects of the Internal Audit services.
Advise management of scheduled audits, reserve appropriate workspace and reserve necessary system access.
Review and approve scope documents.
Assist Internal Auditors with assignment of request lists and monitor bank associates to ensure requests are provided timely Assist Internal Auditors with the scheduling of meetings between bank associates and External Auditors.
Work in conjunction with Internal Auditors to evaluate findings, communicate findings to management and ensure timely management response.
Facilitate any disputes or conflicts between Internal Auditors and management.
If the dispute or conflict cannot be resolved between the parties, will escalate issue to the Audit Committee for final resolution.
Ensure adequate coordination between Internal Auditors and External Auditors Monitor audit plan to ensure that Internal Auditors are on schedule for completion of the audit plan within the time frames outlined in the plan.
Ensure delivery of final audit reports for the audits completed and delivery to the Audit Committee for review.
Ensure Internal Auditors deliver audit workpapers to Peoples Bank.
Periodic review of a sample of the workpapers for appropriateness of scope and completeness of work.
Engage with the SOX Committee to ensure that identified internal control deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate level of management and reported promptly to the Audit Committee.
Will be responsible for working collaboratively with the Board of Directors Audit Committee chair to set the agenda, collect and distribute the information and serve as principal contact point for the this committee.
Monitor and track audit findings, model validations, policy renewals and management actions through resolution.
Ensure the status of outstanding audit findings are reported to the Audit Committee.
Will perform special projects as assigned.
Education, Job Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree (or higher) in accounting or related field.
CPA required.
Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or similar designation desired.
7-10 years of similar or related work experience in financial services.
An excellent cultural fit as demonstrated by being an engaging collaborator with the ability to communicate with clarity across teams.
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
Work involves extensive personal contact with executive management and the Board of Directors.

The successful candidate must have solid analytical skills and act as a leader, planning meetings and determining the needs of the business.
Experienced decisiveness as a leader with the ability to make difficult decisions and thoughtfully debate and challenge to work through difficult issues.
Strong communication and presentation skills are required with proficiency in Microsoft Office product suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
Team player.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree (or higher) in accounting or related field.
CPA required.
7-10 years of similar or related work experience in financial services.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
